About

Emma Kirwan is a predominantly self-taught artist of ten years. She is a mixed media artist fascinated with including textural aspects in her pieces. She began with realism but what truly captivated her was the desire to represent experiences in the abstract and near-abstract, as well as to explore the relationships between what is real, perceived, and felt. She combines acrylic painting with sculptural aspects, blurring the lines between 2-D and 3-D, bringing another level of detail and interaction to all her pieces. She uses everyday items as well as craft supplies to create the sculptural aspects. Emma has participated in several small markets and fairs. At the moment, Emma is working on a series of her interpretation of Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass which aims to combine aspects of previous adaptations with new interpretations of the fantastical meanings of the events.
