Retrospective Transmutation
This series focuses on taking pieces created at the beginning of my painting journey and breathing new life into them. When I first began exploring abstract art, I would complete every piece in one sitting with fast and aggressive movements. At the time I believed abstract art had to be constantly fluid. I wouldn't even let layers dry between new colors and details. Now that I have come more into my style of abstract expression, I've realized that representations of sensations do not have to be captured in a singular moment. With this, working with my old pieces has given me time and space to process what I was attempting to capture in those long ago moments as well as expanding on the illustrated ideas.
